Cat Show Prizes

Champion/Premier

To get a CC (Challenge Certificate), the cat needs to obtain a 1st Place in their class in the Open. This has to be repeated three times under three different judges to gain Champion/Premier status.

Grand Champion/Grand Premier

Grand Champion is the same except the cat is entered in the Grand Champion class and Open is optional. Some exhibitors will generously withdraw from the open to allow new cats to gain their title but will still be included for Best of Breed (BOB). In the open class females and males are judged separately and when the first place has been awarded the best male will be judged against the best female for B.O.B.

UK Grand Champion

This title is only awarded at the Supreme Show held in Birmingham at the N.E.C.. To gain this title a cat has to win 1st Place over two separate years and different judges.

Birman Club Prizes

Each breed of cat has it's own club in the UK, which awards prizes only to their particular breed. The Birman Club is the largest cat club in the UK, which makes it particularly difficult to win these prizes.

Categories

Kitten (4 - 9 Months)

Kittens have completely different prizes from adult cats. Furthermore, after a kitten becomes an adult, they start from scratch - all prizes awarded to them do not count towards their adult career.

Adult

Adult (over 9 months), unneutered cats can compete for the majority of the prizes available.

Neuter

After a cat has been neutered, it no longer competes against unneutered cats for Champion or Grand Champion prizes. Instead, these cats try to attain Premier/Grand Premier status.
